Chamechaude
The great Chartreuse classic. A safe bet!
With Agnès, Patrick, Michel and Pierre-Alain.
A local outing to limit driving. With rather average conditions at low altitude, Chamechaude remains an easy outing, compatible with a descent in the afternoon on snow that has just softened.
On this Monday morning, it is nice and quiet. A gentle start after a quick coffee at the Col de Porte.
Reaching the ridge, the horizon opens up. We catch our breath before the last part along the crest.
Summit! The final slope being riddled with stones and still very hard, we left our skis lower down to finish on foot. Patrick and Pierre-Alain stayed below. They are making sure the bottle of Beaujolais doesn't catch a cold.
It's fine, it doesn't seem to have caught a cold... It did get well and truly emptied, though!
The rest of the descent is all nicely rounded turns on snow that fortunately has come back just right!
